Every new Nissan is protected by several warranties that help protect you against the unlikely situation of an issue with its workmanship and materials. If something is wrong, it will be speedily repaired or replaced for free. As your Bay Area Nissan dealer, we want to tell you about what’s covered by your 2024 car warranty.
Basic Coverage
This warranty protects all components in your vehicle, except for those covered by the other warranties below. This warranty has several exclusions, including damage due to accidents, normal wear and tear, or damage due to repairs at a non-Nissan workshop. Warranty coverage applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Powertrain Warranty
The powertrain warranty protects the engine, transmission, drivetrain, and restraint system components against any factory-related issues in construction or assembly. All the components covered by this warranty are listed in the warranty information booklet. Coverage applies for the first five years or 60,000 miles.
Perforation Warranty
Perforation is rust or corrosion that penetrates metal from one side to the other. If this type of damage occurs, it will be repaired. This warranty applies for five years/unlimited mileage.
Federal Emissions Warranties
The emissions warranty applies to your catalytic converter and all other components in the emissions system. Your Nissan has a highly efficient emissions control system that’s designed to remove almost all dangerous waste gases produced by combustion. It does this by utilizing a combination of chemical reactions, heat, and high pressure.
There are three different emissions warranties, so let’s take a look at them below.
Federal Emission Performance Warranty
This applies if you live in an area that requires emission testing, and it fails to pass an emissions test. It applies for the first two years/24,000 miles. If your state or area doesn’t require emissions testing, this warranty doesn’t apply.
Federal Emission Defect Warranty
Your Nissan was built to comply with all US emissions standards. If any part of the system has a defect, it will be repaired or replaced. The coverage for this warranty is three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
Federal Emission Long-Term Defect Warranty
This warranty applies to the engine control module/onboard diagnostic device and catalytic converter. These vital parts of the emissions system have extended coverage, and are protected for twelve years or 80,000 miles.
Seat Belt Warranty
Your seat belt system is protected against any defect for the first ten years or 120,000 miles.
