Being safe on the road is a big deal. With more drivers heading out in their vehicles every day, the chances of getting into an accident increases. However, there are features that are put onto a new Nissan in San Jose to ensure that the occupants are safe while traveling from one place to another.

 

Since cars were first invented, the safety features have evolved. Considering that most cars back in the day didn’t even have seatbelts, technology has done a lot to make people comfortable and safe when they ride in a vehicle.

 

Recent Safety Advances

They absorb the energy that occurs during the impact so that it’s not transferred to the passengers in the car.

Thus, they will look at the size of the automobile, how much it weighs, how stiff the frame is, and the stress the vehicle could experience in a crash.

 

Since SUVS are larger, that means they will probably crash with more force than a smaller car such as a coupe or a sedan. But they also have to take into consideration how that coupe or sedan will react if hit by a large SUV. By the engineers taking all of this into consideration, they are able to incorporate crumple zones into cars so that occupants are safe should an accident occur.

 

Some other recent safety advances that are being incorporated more into cars include blind spot monitoring. This feature helps drivers know if another vehicle is in their blind spot while they are driving down the road. It is called the “blind spot” for a reason, and that’s because most drivers can’t see if another vehicle is there. With this sensor, it reduces the chances of a person side-swiping another vehicle.

 

Another feature that many cars boast is lane keep assist. It doesn’t take much for drivers to get distracted, and in that one second, they can drift out of their lane and into another one, where another car may be driving. When this happens, this safety feature will alert the person so that they can get back into their lane where they and other drivers will be safe. When it comes to keeping everyone inside and outside of the vehicle safe, another recent safety advance is auto braking and stopping. This can come in a couple of different forms and will depend on the automaker, but, in essence, the goal of this feature is to ensure that the driver doesn’t slam into something that’s in front of them.

 

In some instances, the vehicle will alert the driver if they are getting too close to an object in front of them. This can include a tree, another car, or even a pedestrian. If the driver doesn’t make an attempt to slow down or stop the car, the car will take over and perform the act itself. This can be incredibly beneficial if the driver is distracted, as it will protect all the occupants and others outside of the car.

 

Future Safety Advances

 

The world of safety features continues to improve as people look for ways to make cars even safer. One of the largest advances that is currently being attempted is having cars that drive themselves. Since humans are the biggest factors when it comes to accidents, it’s believed that taking them out of the equation will make driving safer.

 

Of course, this is still probably a ways down the road and there are some bugs that need to be worked out. Before then, though, there may be some other advances that occur in the auto world. These could include having airbags on the outside of a car.

 

Having airbags on the outside of the car can be incredibly beneficial. They would function much like airbags on the inside to protect people from the impact of an accident. These would be much sturdier and larger to be able to handle the weight and force from another vehicle. Like a crumple zone, this safety advancement would disperse the impact forces that occur during an accident.

 

Another safety advancement that could find its way into the automotive world would be sensors that could detect whether the driver has been drinking or is otherwise too impaired to be behind the wheel. While there are machines like this that already exist, they have to be installed into cars and that usually only occurs if a court orders it.

 

Having this feature come standard could save countless lives and help drivers realize that they need to call for a ride to get them home safely. This safety feature, like the others that are already in existence, could be incredibly beneficial and have a huge impact on not just the occupants of a vehicle but those outside of it as well.

 

Since cars first rolled off the assembly line, they have gone through a lot of advancements and changes. They have become sleeker, faster, and safer. Having advanced safety features has been incredibly helpful, and having more as the technology improves could make the roads even safer.
